Gianni De Biasi confirmed on Wednesday that he left the Albanian national team. De Biasi confirmed the news during a press conference jointly with the President of Albania’s Footabll Federation, Armand Duka.
Italian coach has decided to quit as coach of Albania’s Football National team. After announcing on Tuesday that he will not renovate the contract at the end of this season, on De Biasi accompanied by the President of Albania’s Football Federation, Armand Duka, adressed media announcing his resignation as of today. “I though and mediated for a long time and as of today I am no longer coach of our national team,” it is stated in a letter written by De Biasi.
“I want to stop here because I am thinking what is the best for the team to grow even bigger. I think I did my best to get the best from the team,” Italian coach wrote. The former Brescia coach took Albania to Euro 2016, their first ever major tournament, and is competing with Italy and Spain for a place at the 2018 World Cup. De Biasi’s decision came after his team beat Israel with three goals away. De Biasi took over the position in 2011 and he was granted Albanian citizenship for his contribution in promoting Albanian football.
