Heart wrenching rescue mission of a dog trapped inside a drum of hot tar

Saving lives whether a human’s or an animal’s is one of the most fulfilling experiences that one can ever have. When one has done this amazing feat, it is always a great achievement and a victorious feather in one’s cap!

A stray dog from India was found in a drum full of tar. She may have been seeking shelter and made a mistake of jumping inside the drum not knowing what was in it. It could be that as soon as he jumped in the drum his body stuck to the sides of the drum.

Hot tar covered this poor dog’s body after jumping inside the drum.

Definitely, the stray dog was stuck in the drum and because of this she cannot get any food and drink much more free herself from the hot tar. She was also slowly dying from the heat the tar was emitting.

Fortunately, someone saw the painful situation the stray dog was in and called “Animal Aid Unlimited India” for help. They were able to get to the stray dog on time as she was getting weaker and weaker. As soon as they arrived, they assessed her situation and saw that they had to bring the whole drum to their rescue and recovery center.

They needed to break the drum.

Seeing that the stray dog’s fur was now badly bonded to the drum because of the tar, they had to cut the drum open, making sure not to hit the dog inside. Once a part of the drum was removed, they first gave her water drink.

To remove her fur from the drum, they poured vegetable oil all over her body so they can gently peel her away from the tar.

And she still cannot be detached from it.

Removing her fur from the tar was a very hard task because her skin had been badly burned from the tar and much of her hair had come off. They had to pour more vegetable oil to soften the part that had been covered much by the tar.

Since her situation was a delicate one, it took several hours before they finally remove the tar covering a part of her body.

They pour in vegetable oil to finally soften her fur.

While the volunteers painstakingly removed the tar from her body, they gave her bowls and bowls of water as she was so thirsty and hungry after having been trapped in the drum of hot tar.

She also patiently cooperated with the volunteers so that the task at hand can be finished right away.

She had been longing for water for so long.

Finally, after several hours of patiently removing the tar from her body, she was freed from the hot and smelly tar. The volunteers from the Animal Aid Unlimited named the stray dog Asha which means hope.

Now, Asha is happily living under the care of the group, forever grateful for saving her!

I am now clean and free!

Asha is truly one happy and lucky dog. Help came right on time! It is also so sad that she had no family to go home too, but thanks to the people of Animal Aid Unlimited she is now well taken cared of.

We have to make sure that we take care of our pets the same way we take care of our family members—they are family too—so that they are not placed in dangerous situations. As pet owners we must care for them and give them the basic necessities of life—food, water and shelter—and protect them with dear life!
